Eyelid Surgery / Blepharoplasty

This procedure aims to remove bags under the eyes and rejuvenate sagging or heavy eyelids. Dark circles or wrinkled eyes can be caused by either a genetic trait or age.

In some cases, patients are self-conscious from a very young age. At first, their eyelids are slightly swollen only in the morning, then the edema persists a little longer each day and makeup adheres less to women’s skin.

It is about rejuvenating the gaze, which becomes more “illuminated”. The tired look fades, the pockets disappear. Scars are almost invisible, even up close.

On the upper eyelid, the incision follows the normal fold of the eyelid, then the excess skin is removed and, if necessary, the fatty pockets are removed.

On the lower eyelid the incision runs along the ciliary margin. Protruding fatty pockets are removed. Usually, the amount of skin removed is minimal.

Blepharoplasty is not a painful procedure. A bandage with ice packs is left in place a few minutes after the operation. Edema and bruising may temporarily prevent you from fully closing your eyes while sleeping.

The threads are removed very early between the 5th and 8th day. But you have to wait ten days before wearing contact lenses again.

Generally, it causes 8 days of social discomfort, but it is possible to live normally. Make-up can be worn from the 8th day.

The anesthesia can be “local” for the upper eyelids, but most often it is preferable to perform “neuroleptanalgesia” for the lower eyelids to which is associated with a local anesthesia, or rarely with general anesthesia.
